The Camino de Sonoma is a 75-mile pilgrimage from the historic Mission San Francisco Solano in Sonoma to the Russian Orthodox Chapel in Fort Ross State Historic Park. This walk offers an embodied experience that is physical, spiritual, historical, agricultural, environmental, communal, and cultural.
The route follows an ancient pathway across the ancestral lands of the Coast Miwok, Wappo, Southern Pomo, and Kashia Pomo peoples. It moves through terrain where Indigenous communities encountered colonial forces from both the East (Russia) and the West (Spain), holding the layered history of land, people, and power.
The Camino community is diverse, interfaith, and deeply committed to values of justice, reflection, and renewal. Nicacelly partnered with the organization at a pivotal moment—supporting the launch of its first full website, brand narrative, and communications strategy. This collaboration helped set a new benchmark for the kind of strategic and creative support we bring to nonprofits and community-rooted initiatives.
Building on the foundational work of the Camino’s founders and close-knit walking community, we helped translate their vision into accessible, inclusive language. The goal was to honor the deep spiritual roots of the experience while creating resonance for those who may be unfamiliar with traditional faith-based language.
Together, we shaped the brand story, clarified the narrative arc, and designed a digital presence that invites broader participation. This work reflects a shared belief in what founder Adam calls “the human speed of three miles per hour”—a pace that makes room for connection, humility, and healing.

My partner and I came to Nicacelly because we needed a website. The challenge for us has not just been in regards to the technical or programming elements but also in understanding how to develop clear and inspiring messaging around our unique organization. Nicole's approach to her work, her collaborative process, and her genuine care for us to be able to let the world know about the work we are doing allowed us not only to launch a great website but to better understand who the Camino de Sonoma is as an organization. The experience really highlighted for us not only how capable and creative Nica is, but how there really is such a thing as "synergy" that can be experienced when projects are approached in this way.
