When artist, educator, and plant dye expert Sasha Duerr contacted me to actualize her vision for the Bay Area Seasonal Color Wheel based on her deep research on foraged plant dyes, I activated multiple modalities to make it happen. Based on her keen research (please check out her books) I color-matched each of 27 plant dyes with 4 mordants each for a total of 108 swatches with water color. I then gridded them into an old school color wheel.
The result was (and still is) a learning tool for individuals and schools, as well as an art poster that has been selling out regularly across multiple outlets. The design has been extended to New York Seasonal Color Wheel as well, and various others. You can find them on her website here.
